A GLIMPSE OF DR. DESMOND CHIMAOBI ANYASO (OFUJI BENDE)

A glimpse at the life trajectory of Dr. Desmond Chimaobi Anyaso (Ofuji) reveals that the colossus captain of industry is a precocious lad. He displayed exceptional character traits beyond his age. In other words, he is an early starter and thus, ahead of his contemporaries.

Begat in 1980 to a well to do parents, young Chima Anyaso was not a brat. At an impressive age while in primary school, the child of promise embraced petty trading to be financially stable. That was how enterprising Dr. Chima Anyaso who today is a billionaire international business magnet with interest in oil/gas, real estate development, hospitality/lifestyles, financial services and healthcare sectors, resolved to be an entrepreneur.

The worthy and illustrious son of Igbere, Bende local government area of Abia State, Dr. Chima Anyaso is brilliant. After his primary and secondary school education at Aba, he proceeded to Ebonyi State University where he bagged BA (Hons) in English Language and Literature. He also earned MA and MSc in Management both from the University of Lagos. He equally went to Peter J. Tobin College of Business, St. John’s University, Manhattan, New York, where he garnered certification in Executive Management.

Determined to build his own business empire, goal oriented Chima Anyaso worked variously at Elmline Nig Ltd, South Globe Ltd, Traqui Ltd, Geo Bureau De Change and Aquitane Oil/Gas Ltd. It was at Aquitane Oil/Gas Ltd that the ambitious, hardworking and focused young man gained the requisite industry experience to float his own company – Caades Oil/Gas Ltd in 2006 at the sensitive age of 26.

An efficient, effective and consummate business baron, Dr. Chima Anyaso successfully calibrated the company to rapid diversification. Caades Oil/Gas birthed Ceecon Energy Oil/Gas Ltd, the flagship of his corporate fleet. The blue chip company with a turnover in excess of 1 billion dollars is a leader in Nigeria’s petroleum conglomerates. At present, the company consults for international oil firms such as Addax and Vitol. It also has business deals with reputable multinationals like Total, Mobil, Oando, AP, Wabeco and lots more.

The productive mind of the adventurous entrepreneur propelled him to expand into other fertile grounds. Thus, Dr. Desmond Chima Anyaso established SC & C Bureau De Change Ltd, a Class “A” bureau de change licenced by the Central Bank of Nigeria in 2009, Chimbaland Properties & Investment Co Ltd and Oil Rigs Global Resources Ltd.

For his exploits and tremendous success in business nationally and internationally, Dr. Chima Anyaso who sits on the boards of highly rated companies, was crowned by Vanguard Newspapers and Champion Newspapers respectively, as one of the top 20 Business Professionals in Nigeria. Forbes also conferred on him the African Achievers Award for Community Development.

A reputable philanthropist, Dr. Chima Anyaso is the promoter of Chima Anyaso Foundation and Founder/Sole Sponsor of Ahuoma Anyaso Education Foundation.

The Chima Anyaso Foundation (CAF) which carries out seasonal free medical outreaches across Bende Federal Constituency and beyond, has over time provided free medical treatment to no fewer than 17,000 Abians. It has also availed Anti retro viral vaccines for HIV and AIDS patients.

As part of its human capital development, empowerment of the youth, widows and the vulnerable in the society, the Chima Anyaso Foundation has doled out seed capital to over 100 MSMES across Abia State as well as distributed 400 motorcycles and more than 100 vehicles to unemployed youths in the state. Women, especially widows, have equally been empowered by the foundation with start up grants to go into business. Others were given motorised grinding machines and tailoring equipment.

Eleven years on and still counting, the Ahuoma Anyaso Education Foundation single handedly built and sponsored by altruistic Chima Anyaso, a man of letters, has ensured that children from disadvantaged background have access to quality education. The ultra modern nursery and primary school is tuition free. The pupils are also provided school uniforms, sandals, books and writing materials, all at the expense of the founder.

A true democrat who was honoured as DEMOCRACY YOUTH ICON of the year 2017, Dr. Desmond Chima Anyaso, a successful industrialist whose generosity has positively impacted the less privileged in the society, is scaling down on boardroom politics. He is gradually focussing attention on the power game, politics.

Prior to the present that he is flying the flag of the ruling Labour Party (LP) in the state to contest for the Bende Federal Constituency seat in the upcoming 2027 election, Dr. Chima Anyaso was the Deputy Governorship candidate of the Young People’s Party (YPP) in the 2023 gubernatorial election in the state.

A devout Christian, he believes that there is no impossibility with God. That was why as soon as he picked his nomination form, this astute politician to watch, headed straight to the Sanctuary with his lovely wife, Adanna and his children to seek the face of his Creator on his ambition to represent the good people of Bende in the 11th National Assembly.

And like Biblical David, Dr. Desmond Chima Anyaso with his family went to the Church to inquire of the Lord if he should contest in the 2027 election to represent Bende Federal Constituency? Expectedly, God must have told him: “My son, go ahead, you have my approval.”

By the heavenly backing coupled with his favourable disposition to the people, being a member of the ruling Labour Party which has the massive support of the Abia electorate, Dr. Desmond Chima Anyaso, a phenomenon, is on his way to the National Assembly election in 2027.
