The Chairman, Board of Southeast Development commission (SEDC) and former Minister of Labour and Productivity Chief Chukwuemeka Wogu has expressed rude shock following the death Chief Edwin Clark who before his death was the leader of South South People’s Assembly.
In a condolence message to his family, dated, Tuesday 18th February, 2025, Chief Emeka Wogu described his demise as a collosal loss not only to ijaw nation but Nigeria at large, stressing that Chief Clark died at a time his wealth of experience, fatherly advise, support and sharp intellect was needed most.
He recalled his many encounters with the foremost politician and vocal elder Statesman in politics, and nation building and noted with heavy heart that the death of Chief Clark has left a yawning vacuum that would be difficult to fill.
According to Chief Emeka Wogu, the relationship between him and the deceased Elder Statesman was like that of a father and Son. Although Chief Clark was his in-law.
In his words, ” This is one death too many. What a big blow. Sir Edwin Clark will be greatly missed. I have lost a father figure and great statesman. He was avowed lover of ijaw nation, My inlaw, A Pan Nigeria, very versatile, humane, honest and out spoken individual.
SEDC Board Chairman, Dr Emeka Wogu, subsequently extended his heartfelt condolences to the indigenous people of ijaw nation and the Government and the good people of Bayelsa State.
He prayed God to grant the immediate family, the ijaw nation and Bayelsans and indeed Nigerians the fortitude to bear the unbearable loss.
May his soul rest in peace.
