In our clime where life expectancy of the average person is 56 years, it is indeed a milestone and a thing of joy if one attains the diamond jubilee birthday. For the grace of God upon her life these past 60 years, an amazon and woman of substance, Lady Blessing Uwaoma Nwokonneya (Odi Uko N’Mba) is very appreciative to the Almighty as she celebrates her diamond jubilee in sparkle and in style.
The life trajectory of this highly intelligent, thoroughly breed professional banker, management expert, seasoned administrator, phenomenal philanthropist and loyal party woman is that of triumphs and uncommon favours.
Begat into the family of Chief James Okorie Ogbonnaya Lewechi (alias Okorie Tax) of Akaekwo Amamba Uzuakoli, Bende local government area of Abia State three score years ago, Lady Blessing Uwaoma Nwokonneya is the 17th of the 25 children of her father, a Rtd. Chief Magistrate who married three wives.
She started her education at St. Barth’s School Enugu and finished at Practicing School Uzuakoli. For her secondary education, brilliant Blessing Uwaoma Nwokonneya attended Afugiri Girls Secondary School, Akpahia in Umuahia North local government. The Amazon, then Blessing Uwaoma Okorie who passed out in 1981 with good grades, represented her school in track and field events at the State level. She was also Senior Prefect of the school during her time.
A bright scholar, she holds a Masters of Business Administration, from Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO). Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration also from the Same institution and Advanced Diploma in Business Administration from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.
Lady Blessing Uwaoma Nwokonneya started her career in the banking industry in 1989 with Icon Limited (Merchant Bankers) as Confidential Secretary to the Managing Director & Branch Managers (Lagos, Kaduna, Calabar &PH). For her excellent performance, she earned a commendation letter from the MD/CEO of the bank before signing on with Intercontinental Bank PLC in 1993 as Executive Secretary to the Regional Manager, Port Harcourt and later Abuja.
From 1993 – 2012, Lady Blessing Uwaoma Nwokonneya functioned at various branches of Intercontinental Bank in Abuja and rose to be Manager, Pubic Sector.
Highly mobile in the labour market, proficient Lady Blessing Uwaoma Nwokonneya later quit the banking sector in 2012 and joined QBE Ventures Limited as Executive Director, Finance/Administration. After two years, she again moved to Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) in 2014 where she functioned variously as Team Lead, Enforcement, Team Lead, Loan Performance; Credit Analyst and Risk Manager, she was also manager asset management partners Southeast until December 2018 when she took an early retirement to pursue her life time dream to offer service to her people as a politician.
A Fellow of the National Institute of Credit Administration, the altruistic lady ventured into politics to serve humanity in a broader spectrum. A grassroot politician and very Popular in her party, All Progressive Congress (APC), Lady Blessing Uwaoma Nwokonneya won the ticket as the candidate for Isiala Ngwa North/South Federal Constituency in 2019 general election.
In spite of not winning in the general election, for her popularity, lady Blessing Uwaoma Nwokonneya was honoured by Ambassador newspaper as the most popular female politician of the year, 2018
In 2023, she accepted the offer of her party to contest as the candidate of All Progressives Party for the Isiala Ngwa South State Constituency.
Fair complexioned, charming, kind hearted, adorable, homely and a paragon of beauty, Lady Blessing Uwaoma Nwokonneya (nee Okorie), is married to Ezeji Sir Ephraim Nwokonneya fca, a retired Director of Nigerian Communications Commission and Abuja based business mogul from Amuke village, Isiala Ngwa South local government area of Abia State.
Hon Lady Blessing Nwokonneya is a lady of the Sacred Order of the Knights St Mulumba of the Catholic church and holds the chieftaincy Title of Odi Uko N’Mba Uzuakoli Ancient Kingdom.
Lady Nwokonneya is currently the vice chairman/Chief Executive of QBM Properties Services Ltd, Abuja
Their sizzling union of 34 years is blessed with three wonderful and progressive children, now all adults.
