OUK AND HIS SOCIAL CONTRACT WITH ABIA NORTH

People-centric and a service oriented leader, Distinguished Senator Orji Uzor Kalu (Mon) has taken his representation of Abia North at the upper chamber far beyond law making. To ensure that his constituents enjoy the dividends of democracy, OUK has influenced and facilitated the inclusion of many projects in successive national budgets.

On his personal efforts, OUK has constructed and reconstructed over 70 rural roads across the five local Government areas of Abia North, installed solar powered street lights in no fewer than 150 communities, reconstructed more than 100 schools, constructed and rehabilitated many roads, distributed educational materials as well as awarded scholarships to numerous indigent students of Abia North.

Uncountable number of his constituents have also benefited from the generous senator’s human capital development initiatives by acquiring various skills with start up fund given them on completion of their training to set up their own business.

He has equally continue to empower women, the youth and on regular basis dole out food items to the down trodden.

The affable Senator, a media baron is not aloof to his constituents. He holds regular consultations with them. At one of such parleys a fortnight ago at his Igbere palatial country home with OUK Movement Leaders from the 103 wards of Abia North, the ward leaders reaffirmed their solidarity behind the aspiration of Senator Orji Uzor Kalu. They lauded his leadership style and developmental strides in the Senatorial District.

The ward leaders passed a vote of confidence on their able Senator and assured him that his 2027 political aspiration is a done deal. According to them, if OUK decides to contest 100 times, he will win because they will continue to stand solidly behind him.

The import of the above is that the amiable Senator is generally acceptable to his constituents. There are also indicators that his popularity cuts across party line. That being the case, the people of Abia North want their pragmatic Senator to continue to represent them in the Upper Legislative Chamber. Based on these permutations, the dominance of Abia North Senatorial District by Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, the man of his people, is guaranteed.
