“Enyimba and Abia Warriors have been a drain pipe to our resources for years . Outside frenzy of being an Abian anytime Enyimba wins any laurel, I doubt if there is any justification for having two teams in a state that is struggling to meet their statutory obligations.
I was thinking the new administration will merge and restructure both clubs to one team that will be professional and efficiently managed.
If Rivers state with all their money merged their two teams why Abia . Both teams are struggling financially and this probably is affecting their performance.
Unfortunately, I doubt if we have had any financial gains from any of these clubs even when players are sold to other clubs in Africa and Europe.
Their problems goes beyond engagement of new managers. We need structural and institutional changes in these clubs for them to be self sustaining and also play the role of identifying budding talents.”
Hon Obinna Oriaku
Former Commissioner for Finance Abia State.
