Eschew Sentiments, Thumb Up For Chuku Wachuku, The Best Aspirant For A Senatorial Seat

Eschew Sentiments, Thumb Up For Chuku Wachuku, The Best Aspirant For A Senatorial Seat

By Livingstone Uzoma

Abia Central Senatorial District is very unique and perculair. This is because it is an amalgam of the peoples of two disparate local governments, three each from old Aba Division and old Bende Division. In other words, the composition of the Senatorial District is that of marriage of political convenience.

Based on this premise, since the inception of the 4th republic in 1999, the six council areas that constitute the Senatorial Zone have managed to rotate the Senate seat amongst themselves with consideration to primordial cleveages.

Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area took the first shot when Dr. Bob Nwanunu was elected as Senator for Abia Central Senatorial District. He served one term from 1999 -2003.
After Dr. Nwanunu, Dr. Chris Adighije from Umuahia South Local Government Area was in 2003 elected to represent the Zone. Dr. Adighije also functioned for a term from 2003 – 2007.

Next on the saddle for Abia Central Senatorial District seat was Chief (Mrs.) Nkechi Nwaogu from Osisioma Ngwa local government. She was in the Red Chambers for two terms between 2007 – 2015.
Former Governor of Abia State Chief T.A. Orji climbed the Senate ladder for Abia Central Senatorial Zone in 2015. Senator T.A. Orji (Ochendo, Papa Ukwu) will complete his two terms in the Upper Legislative Chamber by 2023.

In view of the forgoing, two local governments – Isiala Ngwa North and Ikwuano have not elected Senators to the Red Chambers. With the next general elections beckoning, two major contenders, Chief Chuku Wachuku of Isiala Ngwa North Local Government and Rtd. Col. Austin Akobundu have indicated interest to represent the Senatorial District.
From our analysis so far, the logical sequence is that the Ngwa area got elected first and followed by the Umuahia/Ikwuano divide of the Senatorial Zone. That being the case, it is fair and just that as Chief T. A. Orji honourably bows out of the Senate in 2023, that the next candidate to step into his shoes should naturally come from Isiala Ngwa North. And that man of nobility and his people is Chief Chuku Wachuku (Uri Chi-ndere Ndi Ngwa).

Aside from this, Chief Chuku Wachuku based on his education, pedigree, antecedents, wealth of experience, exposure, general acceptability and popularity across the six local governments that make up Abia Central Senatorial District, is most suited for the Senate seat for now. For a man who has has made a success of the portfolios he has held in the past, Chief Chuku Wachuku whose oratorical prowess is an added advantage, will function effectively if given the mandate.

With the above humble and honest submissions, we appeal to PDP delegates to the party primaries scheduled to hold in the next few weeks not mortgage their conscience for monetary and material reasons. They should weigh all the odds, eschew sentiments and thumb up (vote) for the most credible, qualified, visionary, goal and achievement oriented aspirant.
That aspirant who the odds are in his favour is Chuku Wachuku, a man with penchant for excellence. He has among other things promised to give his constituents a new session – family economic empowerment, job and wealth creation and so forth if elected. Give him your vote and him coast PDP in the actual election.
