THE ABIA CENTRAL SENATORIAL SEAT; THE PDP IN FOCUS
By Ngwafactsnews Media
A patient dog they say, usually eat the fattest bone. This phrase best describes the mood of the people of Isiala Ngwa North in Abia Central of Abia State in the distribution of political offices in the State, the senatorial zone and the federal constituency.
Since 1999, Isiala Ngwa North has remained one of the PDP’s strongholds in State state, sometimes describing it as the capital of the PDP in Abia State and Nigeria.
Consistently, they have won and delivered their candidates in all elections even when PDP was the opposite Party in the State. The secret behind this feat can be traced to the unity of purpose found among the major actors and players of the game of politics in the locality.

It is Worthy to mention that the Local government is home to major actors and players like Chief Chuku Wachuku (Urichindre of Ngwaland), Chief Tony Enwereuzor, Ochiagha Reagan Ufomba, Chief Okey Ahiwe, Hon Sir Chinenye Ike (Now Apc), Two former Speakers of Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon, Sir. C.O Enwerenmadu and Rt Hon Martins Azubuike (Now APC). Hon. Ginger Onwusibe (Member, Abia House of Assembly), Hon Chinwendu Ochulo, Executive Chairman of Isiala Ngwa North LGA, Hon Sir Fidelis Nwachukwu, High Chief Gan Alozie, Hon Chinenye Nwogu, Elder Chibuike Nwokoukwu (SAN) (Now Apc), Dr. GOC Nnaji, Dr. Bob Ogu, Chief Peter Nwokonko, Chief Uzoma Ihuka, Hon Chimezie Okoronkwo, Hon Onyeukwu Nwogu (Now APC), Igwe Nonso Ogbunamiri, Sir Eric Opah, Sir Chinanu Ogbunamiri, Chief Friday Onukwue, Chief Gaius Anyanwu, Sir G.C Iwuoha, Dr John Chikezie, Mr Boni Iwuoha (now late)His Hon. Chuks Amaike, Deputy Chairman Isiala Ngwa North, Hon I.C Nwankere, Chief Felix Ogbonna , Hon Ugoala, Hon Young Nwogwugwu, Hon Tony Otuonye, Chief Mrs Ijeoma Nwankwo, Sir James Omemgboji. the list is indeed inexhaustible .
Their supports and loyalty to previous and present administrations in the State have remained unprecedented. Yet, it is on record that the LGA have not been considered adequately in the distribution of political offices in the State as well as the Senatorial zone, hence one may be tempted to ask, “Where lies the reward for loyalty?
It’s against this backdrop that it has become necessary and expedient to implore on the power brookers to re-write the wrongs of the past as the next General elections approaches.
For instance, Isiala Ngwa North has remained the only local government area in Abia Central Senatorial zone that have not produced a senator from the zone since the creation of the State till date, which is relying on 2023 general elections for the anomaly to be corrected.
The agitation to address the long age marginalization may not be far from why some of the aforementioned key stakeholders left the PDP for other political parties hoping to find a platform to address their grievance.
Such imbalance can be traced to the Governorship seat of the State as well, as the local government is among the LGAs in the Old Aba Division clamouring for the zoning of the State’s most decorated office to them to enable them complete the remaining Eight years that power is expected to remain in the zone if they must be at equitable level with their old Bende Division brothers who held power for sixteen uninterrupted years.
A critical look at this article can push one to draw a quick conclusion that the people of Isiala Ngwa North LGA are asking for too much. No!. Not at all; Those with such notions must realize that the same people have waited for so long too, as nature has a way of rewarding patience and hard-work.
We have instances where Obingwa LGA in Abia South Senatorial zone produced, Member House of Representative for 2 terms of 8yrs, a sitting Senator for 4 terms of 12yrs now and still asking for more, A sitting Governor in his second tenure (8yrs)
Umuahia North in Abia Central senatorial zone has produced a Governor for 2 terms (8yrs), A sitting Senator in his second term (8yrs) and Sitting Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly.
In the same Umuahia but South LGA had produced a Senator (Sen Dr Chris Adighije) while their Son Gov TA Orji was a serving Governor.
What do we say about in Abia North Senatorial zone where Bende LGA had produced a Governor for 2 terms (8yrs), while Member House of Reps for Aba North/South federal Constituency (8yrs) was from the same Bende LGA.
As 2023 gets closer and as political activities hots up, it is the expectation of the people of Isiala Ngwa North LGA, that the huge imbalance in the distribution of political offices in the Senatorial zone be addressed for the sake of equity, fairness and justice.
In all, the signal and the message is that Isiala Ngwa North LGA is now ripe for everything come 2023 and let no one make no mistakes about it.
He that will come to equity must come with a clean hand.
Motion supported by me we will not forfeit any of our own, this is really our time as we waited patiently for it so we move regardless
